Receive e-mail notifications of upcoming events
PEO has implemented an invitation-only listserv to manage member's
email addresses, and allow headquarters and chapters to communicate
quickly, with members. (A listserv is an automated mechanism to
manage a set of email addresses, and send broadcast emails to them.)
This is a service that every member should use; here’s why:
Current economics mean that we can only afford to publish two newsletters
a year. Since many events come up at times that are not close to
these newsletter publications, few members find out about them in
a timely manner, and miss out on great opportunities.
We don’t like spam any more than you do, so we’ve taken a number of steps to ensure you won’t be flooded with unwanted emails from this listserv. The email lists are password-protected and heavily secured. Even your chapter executive cannot obtain the list of mails: we can only direct the Toronto database to send an email on our behalf. We take care to ensure that our emails only contain information likely to be of interest to P.Engs., retired P.Engs., and EITs. We don’t plan to send emails more frequently than every four to six weeks. And, if for any reason you want to unsubscribe, you can do so at any time. All you need to do is sign up; here’s how:
- Make sure PEO headquarters has your up-to-date email address.
You can do this through the secure address update form available
from the Address Update Form button on the main www.peo.on.ca
page. This will give you an electronic entry form, which you can
use to update/correct/add/change/delete your personal information,
including your email address(es). If your email is correct, you
should have received an invitation last year. If you don't have
that invitation anymore, just add a note to the form, indicating
you wish to be re-invited to join the listserv.
If you need help registering, or updating your info, take a look at http://www.peo.on.ca/A/HelpA.htm. Please note that only the staff in Toronto have access to the database: the volunteers in Ottawa organizing events cannot help with updates or queries.
- When your form is processed, and the database detects that
you have added or changed your email address at your correspondence
preference (home or business), it will email you a personalized
email, inviting you to join the listserv.
- Click on the link in the email. You will be sent to a site
that will process the request to join, and, if successful, will
let you know it worked. You will then be sent a “Welcome”
email containing personalized information on how to unsubscribe.
Please save your welcome email. You will need it, if you ever
wish to unsubscribe from the list.
